1SG Yevgeniy Levin currently serves as the 1st Sgt. of the United States Army Europe and Africa Band and Chorus. Born in the USSR and raised in Chernovtsy, Ukraine, he is a graduate of Russian Academy of Music Gnessin’s College, Moscow, Russia. After emigrating to the U.S. in 1994, he received a Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts at SUNY Purchase, NY and studied for an Artist Diploma at the University of Hartford, CT. At the age of 29 he joined the U.S. Army as a Bandsman. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advance Individual Training at the Army School of Music, Little Creek, VA.
1SG Levin’s previous assignments include two consecutive tours at the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Band and Chorus, Heidelberg, Germany; Human Resources NCOIC, 10th Mountain Division Band, Fort Drum, NY; Clarinet Instructor and Music Performance Team Instructor, U.S. Army School of Music, Little Creek, VA; Army Music Recruiting liaison, 1st Recruiting Brigade, Fort Meade, MD, First Sergeant, 25th Infantry Division Band, Schofield Barracks, HI and Band Sergeant Major of TRADOC Band, Fort Eustis, VA.
His military training includes CO CDR/1SG Pre-CMD Course; Master Leaders Course; Army Recruiter Course; Senior Leaders Course, there he was Honor Graduate and Commandant’s List Graduate; Unit Armorer Course; Small Group Instructor Training Course and Advanced Leaders Course.
1SG Levin’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (three oak leaf clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (two oak leaf clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (seven oak leaf clusters), the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army Superior Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Senior Army Instructor Badge, the US Army Recruiting Badge, the Driver Mechanic Badge Driver Wheeled Vehicle and the Gold German Armed Forces Badge for Weapons Proficiency.
