Sgt. Maj. Lori A. Nix, a native of Opelika, Alabama, is the senior enlisted band leader for the U.S. Army Europe Band and Chorus. She is a graduate of the U. S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course and Basic Leader Course. Additional military training includes the Battle Staff Course, First Sergeant Pre-Command Course, Master Resiliency Course, Security Management Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course and Facilitator Course.
Sgt. Maj. Nix’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., and a Master of Music degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. Before joining the Army in 2000, Sgt. Maj. Nix taught elementary general music to Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade students as an itinerant teacher in the Muscogee County School System in Georgia.
Sgt. Maj. Nix’s military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award); Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal (7th Award); Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award); National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (5th Award); Army Service Ribbon; and the Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award).
